Decibels Youth Music Centre provides low-cost recording and rehearsal facilities, music programs and resources for young people aged 12-25 who are looking to record, rehearse or extend their networking and knowledge of the contemporary music industry.

Decibels Records
Darebin City Council’s Decibels Records program is a youth-led initiative for young people interested in pursuing a career within the music industry.

The year-long program provides opportunities for participants to gain first hand experience in the various elements of establishing, maintaining and being signed to an independent record label.

Applications have now closed for the 2014 Darebin Decibels Artists.

FReeZA

The FReeZA program is a part of the Victorian State Government funded FReeZA initiative that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events within their local communities.
As one of 78 state-wide providers, the FReeZA program also provides important performance opportunities for local musicians and emerging artists to showcase their talent through competitions such as the Victorian FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands.

All FReeZA events are fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free.

Darebin Music Feast

Every year throughout October, Melbourne’s thriving music community comes together to celebrate songwriting and music at the Darebin Music Feast.

This rich and diverse collection of musical events is built on the philosophy that music brings people together and can be enjoyed by all.

Darebin Music Feast 2017 will be taking over venues right across the municipality from 12 - 22 October. With signature events, dance parties, interactive installations, intimate gigs and returning favourite, the Darebin Songwriters Award, Darebin Music Feast showcases Darebin's diverse mix of music genres and cultures.

Few municipalities in Melbourne can boast the boundless creativity of Darebin. Taking in Thornbury, Northcote, Reservoir, Preston, Macleod, Fairfield, Bundoora, Alphington and Kingsbury, Darebin boasts a veritable bounty of talent and is brimming with art, music and dedication to culture.

Filming Permit

We have a diverse range of locations all within close proximity to the CBD. From inner city period homes to suburban areas and vast parklands, Darebin has proven to be a popular filming location for many shows.
Filming Permits

 

Permits are required to film within the City of Darebin municipality ensure that activities are conducted in accordance with Council’s regulations. A copy of your public liability insurance coverage (minimum of $20,000,000) is also required upon applying.

Apply for a Filming Permit

To apply for a Permit to film within the City of Darebin municipality, please compete the following steps in order to complete the application form(s) and send it to the contact listed below.

  1. Complete the Filming Permit Application Form
  2. Complete the Filming Addendum Application Form (if required) and a Location Agreement Form
  3. Submit your application.

Filming Permit Fees

 

Filming permit will incur a $315.00 application fee. No fees apply for student productions.

Your production company will be invoiced upon approval of your permit and payment must be made prior to any activities.

Consent Forms

If you would like Darebin residents to be part of your film you will need to gain consent from each party, including children under 18 years old.
