Preston Shire Hall

Clyde Street Community Hall

Suitable for both meetings and indoor activities such as yoga and gentle exercise. These venues and surrounding grounds are alcohol and smoke free areas. Features:

Arts Centres

Our city is home to a number of wonderful arts centres including a public art gallery at Bundoora Homestead, a 395 seat theatre at Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre, and the modern performance studios and art-deco significance of the Northcote Town Hall.

Bundoora Homestead Art Centre

Address: 7 Prospect Hill Drive, Bundoora.

Built in 1899, Bundoora Homestead is a magnificent Queen Anne-style Federation mansion operating as a historic house, art gallery and cafe, registered by Heritage Victoria and certified by the National Trust. The Art Centre is the public art gallery for the City of Darebin hosting contemporary visual arts and craft exhibitions, a public education program including artist talks, workshops and events, a community access gallery, and the biennial Darebin Art Prize.

Northcote Town Hall

Northcote Town Hall is a spectacular historical icon that has recently been renovated to include modern and art-deco interiors.

Rooms are available for meetings, functions, events and performances.

Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre

Address: Corner Bell Street and St Georges Road, Preston.

Box Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

The Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre has the following facilities:

Darebin Intercultural Centre

Address: 59A Roseberry Avenue, Preston.

The aim of the Darebin Intercultural Centre is to foster respectful and constructive interracial, intercultural and interfaith relations between and amongst people, who live, work or play in Darebin.

The Centre hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, from cultural programs and celebrations to workshops, film days, forums and panel discussion. We also have rooms and technical equipment for hire for activities that meet the Centre's objectives and contribute to the Centre's purpose and vision:

  • Pearl Room: Meeting/function room with 60 person capacity (AV equipment available).
  • Jade Room: Meeting/function room with 50 person capacity (AV equipment available).
  • Amber Room: Meeting room/hot desk space with 6 person capacity.
  • Opal Room: Meeting room with 10 person capacity.

Services available:

  • Kitchen for heating and serving catered food.
  • Room set-up is available for bookings during business hours.

Darebin North East Community Hub

Address: Copernicus Crescent, Bundoora.

The hub provides services for families with children, meeting rooms, and a conference space for hire. Services include; maternal and child health services, breastfeeding support, family support, early years programs and a toy library.

The hub is located in Bundoora in a restored building of historic significance that was formerly part of Larundel Psychiatric Hospital.

East Preston Community Centre

Address: 7 Newton Street, Reservoir.

The Centre provides a range of services and programs for our diverse community that are inclusive and accessible, and provides opportunities for collaboration and integration with other services and programs.

The Centre hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, from community programs and educational courses and programs, and with a number of support organisations providing outreach including the East Preston and East Reservoir Tenants Group and Darebin Community Legal Centre.

There is a large multi-purpose program space with a kitchenette, a social program area with kitchen and an office that is available for hire for activities that meet the Centre's objectives and contribute to our purpose and vision.

Keon Park Children's Hub

Address: 1-7 Dole Avenue, Reservoir.

The state-of-the-art early years hub provides for the needs of families with young children in the north. The centre accommodates two kindergarten rooms, two maternal child health consulting rooms, family meeting spaces and play areas.

Reservoir Community and Learning Centre

The Reservoir Community and Learning Centre offers a wide variety of services, and a safe welcoming space for visitors. Come and visit us for any of the following Council services:

Community meeting spaces available for hire:

  • Meeting room (two rooms available): 10 person capacity (available during Library opening hours).
  • Function room (two rooms available): 45 person capacity, theatre style.

Neighbourhood Houses

There are a number of Neighbourhood Houses providing a range of support and recreational services in Darebin.

Council in partnership with the Darebin Neighbourhood House Network have created the Activities for the Community Across Darebin Resource which includes details of each of the seven Neighbourhood Houses in Darebin and activities and programs that are currently running.

Senior Citizens Centres

Our Senior Citizens Centres are a place for community members to meet, discuss, organise activities or run workshops.

In Darebin we have six Senior Citizens Centres. These centres can be hired by eligible incorporated and not-for-profit community groups and organisations for activities that are welcoming and inclusive of older people. 

Priority is given to activities that promote active and healthy ageing as outlined in Council's Active and Healthy Ageing Strategy 2011 – 2021. Groups running activities that connect people from different ages (intergenerational activities) are also encouraged.
