Darebin Domestic Animal Management Reference Group

This group provides strategic advice and recommendations to Council in relation to the implementation of the Domestic Animal Management Plan.

Purpose of the committee

The purpose of this committee is to provide strategic advice and recommendations to Council in relation to the implementation of the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025(PDF, 335KB). The group will discuss topics such as effective cat and dog management, domestic animal issues within the community, increasing registration and identification of dogs and cats, reducing the number of dogs and cats impounded to the shelter and identifying opportunities to work collaboratively to improve animal outcomes.

Selection criteria

  • A keen interest and passion for animal welfare, rescue opportunities/partnerships and improving responsible pet ownership.
  • Alignment with Darebin Council Values and connection to community.
  • Availability and commitment to participate in and contribute to Committee meetings.

Meeting times

The committee meetings will be held 3 times yearly. Committee members are appointed for an initial 2-year term.
