The City Nature Challenge is back from 25-28 April 2025
As one of the biggest citizen science projects in the world. Cities worldwide compete to make:
The most observations - of the most species - by the most people.

We are encouraging residents to joining with 25 councils and environmental organisations to represent Greater Melbourne in the global City Nature Challenge.

Getting started is easy:
1. Download the iNaturalist app to your phone: https://inaturalist.ala.org.au
2. Visit the website to learn more about the challenge and find Darebin events.
3. Record photos of plants, animals and fungi in your local area - or backyard!
4. Upload your photos to the Darebin project page:
