The City Nature Challenge is back from 25-28 April 2025.

As one of the biggest citizen science projects in the world, cities worldwide compete to make:

The most observations - of the most species - by the most people

We are encouraging residents to join with 25 councils and environmental organisations to represent Greater Melbourne in the global City Nature Challenge.

Getting started is easy:

1. Download the iNaturalist app to your phone: inaturalist.ala.org.au

2. Visit the website to learn more about the challenge and find Darebin events at vefn.org.au/cnc2025

3. Record photos of plants, animals and fungi in your local area - or backyard!

4. Upload your photos to the Darebin project page at inaturalist.ala.org.au/projects/city-nature-challenge-2025-darebin

5. Have fun!
