As Darebin’s diverse community grows and changes, so do our housing needs.

In 2022, we consulted with the community through the Housing Conversation to seek feedback on your values, concerns, and aspirations for housing to inform the Housing Strategy. Guided by this consultation, we have developed a draft of Part 1 (Growth & Need) & Part 2 (Character & Design) of the Housing Strategy and the Preferred Neighbourhood Character Statements and Guidelines.

These documents will help guide where and how new housing should be delivered in Darebin to meet the needs of our diverse and growing community.

We want to know what you think.

Do you agree with the draft Housing Strategy’s vision, strategic directions and actions? Do you think the strategy is directing more housing in the best locations? Do the draft Preferred Neighbourhood Character Statements and Guidelines address important aspects of neighbourhood character? Have we missed anything?

We know social and affordable housing and homelessness services are important to the community. To help us prepare an Affordable Housing Strategy in the next phase of work (Part 3 of the Housing Strategy), we are seeking to understand how issues of housing affordability and homelessness are impacting the Darebin community.
