Dedicated open space at Northcote Public Golf Course opening on 1 January
The new dedicated open space area at the Northcote Public Golf Course will open for community use on 1 January 2023.
As per Council’s resolution on 23 May 2022, 5.72 hectares of the Northcote Public Golf Course site have been set aside as a new dedicated open space area for the wider community to enjoy in unison with the golf course.
Darebin Mayor Councillor Julie Williams said the shared use of the golf course site responded to more than 7,000 views collected during a community survey in late 2021.
"I have visited the space on many occasions, and I am truly excited for the potential this beautiful site has to deliver a first-rate golfing experience in concert with meaningful access and enjoyment for the wider community to additional parklands," Mayor Williams said.
The new boundaries between the open space and the golf course will be marked using a combination of signage, fences and landscaping to ensure the safety of golf course users and visitors to the new open space area, while Council is working on concept designs for the eastern path, the northern park and the new golf course layout. Funding for these works will be considered as part of the 2023/24 Annual Budget process.
