FUSE is a multi-arts festival by Darebin City Council that highlights the diverse and creative talents of local artists and performers.
FUSE takes place every autumn and spring and this year FUSE Autumn 2023 runs from 11–26 March, transforming Darebin’s streets, parks, venues, theatres, galleries and other public spaces into locally unexpected zones of art, culture and creativity.
What's on a FUSE
There's over 25 events running from 11 to 26 March
FUSE is built on the belief that art is for everyone and provides opportunities for the community to discover the surprising and unexpected in their local neighbourhood, with a bold and diverse program.
The festival kicks off with Out of the Park Picnic on Sunday 12 March, headlined by ARIA-nominated Noongar/Gumbaynggirr singer-songwriter Emma Donovan and hosted by Queen Acknowledgements, aka Nartarsha Bamblett, a proud Yorta Yorta, Gunai Kurnai, Walpiri and Wiradjuri woman. This free afternoon event at Edwardes Lake Park features interactive activities with shared culture, local artists, food, site art, music and family activities galore.
In celebration of International Women's Day, this year’s Molly Hadfield Social Justice Oration hosts Namila Benson, radio broadcaster, podcaster and television presenter, to speak on racism and anti-racism on Wednesday 15 March at Darebin Arts Centre. This annual Darebin City Council event is a tribute to Molly Hadfield OAM, an inspiring local who worked tirelessly for social justice.
The Darebin Community Awards is also held as part of FUSE and recognises individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the community. The awards will be presented on 23 March at the new Narrandjeri Stadium, with everyone welcome to attend.
