The Election Period, also known as the Caretaker period, begins at 12pm on Tuesday, September 17, and concludes at 6pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 2020, councils must follow specific guidelines during the caretaker period leading up to elections.

This allocated time around Council Elections ensures that Council has processes in place that will ensure elections are conducted fairly and ethically – and safeguarding the authority of the incoming Council.
This is why during the Caretaker period:
• Councils are restricted from making certain decisions, so most community consultations will pause.
• Material produced by councils must not influence the election outcome.
• Comments on Council’s social media will be disabled, to avoid any comments made about or by election candidates or the election.
• You will see some reduction in our social media activity.
• Public Question and Submission Time is suspended.

Otherwise, Council services remain operational.
