Golf will continue seven days a week from sunrise to sunset at Northcote Golf Course, with 5.72 hectares also unlocked for all community to enjoy.
Darebin Council will advertise for a public tender for operation of the Northcote Public Golf Course. The decision was made at a Council meeting tonight.
This means the golf course will continue as normal with a full nine holes playable from sunrise to sunset. Following Council’s recent and separate decision, 5.72 hectares of open space will also be unlocked for the wider community to enjoy.
The future management contract and operating model will encourage the successful applicant to explore creative options to activate the golf course, including opportunities for people wanting to get involved in other golf-related and non-golf activities.
The next management contract for the course will be in place for an initial period up to 30 June 2026 (3 and a half years), with a further two-year extension period. This will allow Council to achieve operational and strategic objectives from the contract.
Funding of $450,000 was approved in Darebin’s 2022/23 budget for works to unlock open space at the course.
