Applying for business permits

To ensure a seamless process of business permit applications we provide Business Concierge services as part of our Better Approvals Program.

Whether you’re a new or established business, you’ll likely need one or more permits to operate. We have a dedicated team to help guide your business through the application process. We know that there’s a lot to consider when starting or changing a business, so we’ve developed the Better Approvals Program (BAP).

To determine which permits you require to get your business started, please contact the Business Concierge for a quick chat about your plans. They’ll discuss your individual needs and provide a questionnaire in order to compile a complete overview of your business.

The Better Approvals process

1. Contact the Better Approvals team. Before applying for permits, contact our Better Approvals team to help you to compile an overview of your business idea. We will ask you to fill in a business questionnaire describing your business so that we understand what permits you require. We can email you the link, or you can complete the questionnaire using the link below.

2. We provide you with advice. The business team will arrange for each relevant department to provide you with permit advice. We will email you a summary of preliminary advice about what permits you require and the costs of application. We may also arrange a pre-application meeting if needed.
   
3. Apply for a business permit. From there, you can use our single business application form to apply for one or multiple permits. This includes Planning, Building, Food, Health and Footpath Trading applications. We will forward this to the relevant departments for processing.
