Promoting inclusion in sport

Darebin/Banyule Peer Action Group

The Darebin/Banyule Peer Action Group is leading change in people's lives and communities. The group provides peer support and encouragement for people with disability, their families and supporters. The group meets monthly.

Bandmates Victoria

Bandmates is a program that matches volunteers with people over 18 with disability or mental health issues, to go out to live music. Check the Community Music Victoria website to find out more.

International Day of People with Disability

Celebrated each year on 3 December, the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

Darebin City Council recently partnered with local community groups to celebrate International Day People with Disability 2024 through a grants process. Selected groups were awarded funding of up to $2,500 for projects or events that to be led by people with disability in our community.
