How Darebin Celebrates

Our community is uniquely diverse and vibrant, shaped by a rich tapestry of cultures, religions, and backgrounds. This diversity is reflected in the significant days and events we acknowledge and celebrate.

Each year, Darebin Council celebrates through messages and activities several events that hold meaning for our community. These acknowledgments are intended to honour and increase awareness of our community’s values, respectfully recognising these important occasions:

  • Christmas
  • New Year's Eve and Day
  • Lunar New Year
  • Ramadan
  • Nowruz
  • Easter
  • Orthodox Easter
  • Eid Al-adha
  • Diwali

In addition to celebrating cultural and community events, we also acknowledge over 45 days that promote respect, inclusion, and awareness. These occasions are not necessarily celebratory but serve as important reminders of our shared responsibilities, histories, and commitments to equity and justice. By marking these days, we aim to foster understanding, support meaningful conversations, and contribute to a more inclusive and respectful community:
