The Your Street, Your Say project is your opportunity to have a say about how we can make local streets better and safer in Darebin.

The future of your street

The Your Street, Your Say project is all about improving local streets and neighbourhoods in Darebin. The project takes an integrated, city-wide view of transport challenges and is underpinned by Council’s Transport Strategy 2007 – 2027.

Rolled out progressively across Darebin, Your Street, Your Say asks for your thoughts about walking, cycling, scooting, driving and playing in your local area. This helps us identify what’s most needed to improve our streets

There are three groups in the project, Group A, Group B and Group C representing different suburb groups. The consultation is in two stages. Stage one is where we ask the community for their general feedback in the area. This information helps us draft a plan with key improvements to make it safer and easier for people to move around. At Stage two we come back to the community and ask for feedback on the draft plans. The draft plans may include (but is not limited to) new pedestrian crossings, speed limit changes or other place-making ideas.

We can then progress the high priority projects to detail design stage.

While not all identified infrastructure improvement projects can be delivered straight away, projects will continue to be considered in the future through Council’s annual budget process. A similar approach to the Capital Works Plan will be used to assess identified and designed projects throughout Darebin to ensure resources are directed to the areas most in need and best value is achieved for our community.

What’s happened so far?

Group A

Consultation for Reservoir West, Preston West, Thornbury West took place in 2021 and 2022.
